Topographical Surveys

In recent years, Mason Clark Associates have invested in up to date hardware and software for carrying out detailed topographical surveys for a variety of clients. Our Surveyors are fully trained to carry out topographical surveys and are carried out by in house staff working to agreed safety guidelines.

The topographical surveys may be required for a number of reasons such as to provide information for land development, land purchase, construction and setting out. Surveys are carried out using electronic data recording via the use of a total station which collects the information and once completed, the survey can be downloaded onto a pc/laptop. We also have the facility to carry out surveys to Ordnance Survey Grid co-ordinates via the use of GPS so they can be overlaid directly onto Ordnance Survey maps. In addition to the electronic data recording, we also offer manual leveling surveys through the use of traditional levels. The survey data we collec can be converted to be used with several software applications either for design purposes or to produce plans/drawings.

The software in which this information can be used includes Win DES Micro Drainage, ISIS, PDS developer and KeyTerra-firma, and all plans/drawings are produced in Autodesk AutoCAD software. The software applications we use allow the survey information to be manipulated and displayed in various different formats. For example, the information can be manipulated to show both existing and proposed level plans, contour plans, cross sections and long sections. Also extent of site flooding, drainage requirements and volumes of material which may need importing/exporting to or from site can be calculated.
